Frontier Community Services provides In-Service education to all agency employees on a regular basis.
All new employees receive an orientation program concentrating on the following areas: agency history, agency philosophies, receipt and review of personnel policies and procedures, confidentiality, HIPAA, Drug Free Workplace, OSHA standards, Emergency Response and Fire, and First Aid and CPR.
Staff who will serve individuals with intellectual disabilities have further instruction in:
Introduction to mental retardation and other developmental disabilities, normalization (cultural values and the MR/DD system), Behavior Supports, Individual Rights, Incident reporting including abuse, neglect and Incidents Affecting Health & Safety (Major Unusual Incidents), Delegated Nursing as applicable or medical certification training, The Individual Service Plan, Techniques & Philosophy of Interventions/Training (Development, Assessment, Team Process, Case Coordination, documentation, prompting, & methods) and TAPS (Therapeutic Assault Prevention System).
Senior Services staff receive additional training including:
Overview of Passport, documentation, errand services, bill of rights, code of ethics, job responsibilities, mileage, cooking, cleaning skills return demonstration, and safety issues.
Trainings are also available that are geared to the education of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Those trainings may include subjects such as Fire & emergency response, and socialization.
Orientation or trainings necessary for position advancement are provided by Frontier as needed. Many state/program required trainings occur on an annual basis as designated on the yearly training calendar. These in-services are held within the agency at required scheduled monthly staff meetings. They may also be provided for through outside services such as provider trainings or statewide conferences.
